Private Garden Project
Unfortunately I was not included in the garden project in my school because I was not at Austin High at the time. But in Germany my family and I had a garden and harvested fruits every year. I learned a lot in the process. After moving to Texas, we planted some plants on our balcony, we have a couple of tomatoes, herbs (balsil, oregano, ...), and some flowers. (We also have some cacti).
In my basic school, there was also a subject called "school garden". There we learned about plants and animals in the gardens. What is the garden project? The term “food desert” is commonly used to refer to an urban area in which it is difficult to buy affordable or good-quality fresh food. Instead, these neighborhoods have ahigher percentage of fast food restaurants and convenience stores (as opposed togrocery stores), which severely limits the dietary choices their residents have. Urban vegetable gardening is one way for residents of a food desert to gain access tofresh, healthy foods. Your group’s task is to design a food garden system for an urbangardener. In particular, your group needs to design and build a movable food garden system for a small space (like an apartment patio). Given we live in a largely urban environment, space-efficient and easy to use structures like this are a must. |

I chose the first project, and that's how we did it: I got information about what material I needed, in my case I needed 9 fence slats (1.80 meter /5-5.6 "). We used cedar wood. 1. First of all, my father and I measured the boxes, which will later be the flower boxes. Then we sawed everything together and assembled it. 2. Secondly, we sawed off the two sides slightly above and below. 3. As a last step, we screwed the boxes together bit two, and planted them. Addition: We have grounded our Garden Planter in white. |
