The Rome Travel
Rome - the Eternal City
Rome is the capital of Italy and the largest city in the country. A legend tells that Romulus founded the city in 753 BC. Built on seven hills. Romulus killed his brother Remus for making fun of the city wall. According to legend, the two brothers were the sons of the god Mars, who were abandoned on the Tiber and nursed by a she-wolf. I was lucky to be able to visit this fascinating city twice (2017 and 2018). We stopped here on our trips to Napoli and Pompii (but more about that in another travel report). Rome bears the surname - Eternal City - not only because you travel with your RV from Germany very long - but because there are incredible buildings and ruins from centuries ago that are seen as proof that this city will never go down. These include the Colosseum, the Spanish Stair, Cesar's Palace in the ruins of the Forum Romanum and many other sights. And last but not least, a visit to the Vatican is a must! St. Peter's Square and the cathedral are simply impressive and inspiring. We did not see the Pope, but it is a great feeling to be at this world famous place. You have to see this city at least once in your life, because there is hardly a place with a more varied history in the world. |
